Volunteer Research Laboratories LLC was founded as a response to an emergent need to address electronics obsolescence in the US military. While this specifically may not always be what we do, our mission, at its core, is to provide meaningful solutions to our clients regardless of the problem and give to them all rights, schematics, source code, data, everything, so that they may be fully prepared for whatever happens next.
What we do
Volunteer Research Laboratories LLC was founded by Lesley Gushurst in 2018 with the idea military projects should be uncomplicated to maintain. Volunteer Research Laboratories LLC believes that our clients should demand to retain their intellectual property rights when working with contractors, and prefer open source/hardware solutions when available.
Far too often projects will depend heavily on solutions that are complicated to maintain in the long term. Often times design decisions for projects are made to accommodate lowering costs up front and not much consideration is given to the full lifetime of a product. Volunteer Research Laboratories LLC seeks to alleviate some of these issues by disclosing designs, source code, and by offering obsolescence mitigation plans as a standard service.
At Volunteer Labs, we understand that not every project has put into place full lifetime planning. In instances where original documentation, source code, schematics, or other resources are not available, Volunteer Research Laboratories LLC also offers full reverse engineering and redesign services with “form-fit-function” considerations being a top priority.
